I need parts for my 96 SD and need some advice on the cheapest place to get them (yeah I'm a CB!).

- all cooling hoses including heater hoses
- head gaskets - rubber kind
- transmission filter/screen and gasket
- muffler (center)
- oil sump gasket (RTV? rubber?)
- plugs/wires and what kind? Gap?

I've looked at the typical places like AB and RN but was wondering if anyone else uses any other sources for these sort of maintenance parts.

Thanks in advance!

If you have part numbers and are not in a hurry, try www.discountrovers.com

for what you are buying I would not go aftermarket on the hoses or gaskets

Shop around. I use Atlantic British a lot but they are not the cheapest. I've found some great deals at the local dealer (Denver Colorado). Infact I had a whole new rear diff installed for less than I could buy it online. However some other places can work out cheaper. There is no sense to some of the prices posted

Yep, I'm cheap as well.

Check www.Rovercity.com

They have been good at a reasonable price and service was good as well.

Also, check www.roversdownsouth.com

I've bought a lot of series rover stuff from them, but not any Rover V8 stuff. On the series parts, they were good and the price was better. Not to mention service was great. The owner is a nice person as well.

Roversnorth had a sale on transmission service kits. They were at a low price, I don't know if the $$$ is still down though.

www.britishpacific.com

British Pacific is competitive. Only bought limited stuff but they seem to have all of the standard stuff and a good number of aftermarket things.

Lastly, www.thatchedroofgarage.com

They are starting to get into the Rover V8 market. They used to be series rovers only, but are now expanding into the newer stuff. Great prices and good service. The owner is a nice guy.

All of these places will give you better deals than what the dealership will charge you (yes, even RN and BP). FWIW, these are the places I buy rover parts from for both my 109 and the disco.

Forgot to mention

http://www.tntlr.com/

They have all sort of wierd and unusual stuff. They have piles of the hard to find parts. Good prices, good service. Nice guy.

Shop around on the net and through your dealer, I found the dealer prices for the plug wires to be the cheapest. But overall be carefull to order parts from different online places as the shipping cost can actually make the savings dissapear. Shop around though and find who has all that you need the cheapest than pay only one shipping fee. Check with Autozone or O'Rileys for the Coolant hoses they carry some for my 95 Disco.

Ron, why wouldn't you go aftermarket on hoses and gaskets? Size, shape?
