Check engine light is still on for misfires. I changed the plugs. Not it. Just put on another set of Magnecores. (Last set was 3 mo. old and fixed the problem last time) Still here. What would be my next step in isolating this problem, short of taking it to the mechanic? |

Carbon? Check and make sure your wires are not touching each other or anything metal. |

Wires are good. Thinking maybe carbon. Going to try some seafoam if I can figure out what intake it needs to be sprayed into. |

Will it hurt it to drive with random misfires? I am planning on driving to Florida in a week or so and would like to make it there and back without blowing anything up. |

i had a similar experience after a shop put in the wrong plugs and they said that they had to replace the plugs, wires, and starter coil. |

Make sure your plug leads are the right spec for resistance etc... Sometimes the extra electromagnetic field created by non-spec leads can be enough to interfere with the engine management computer. My dad had similar problems, the main dealer put two new computers in before a friend noticed the wrong leads. |

I have had that light go on twice. once when I got my 99 Disco1 (at 28k) and then 3 weeks later. Same issue... Misfire. Premium gas could solve problem. Took mine to LR dealership and they said I'll probably need a valve job at $1900. 4 months and 8000 miles later I have been fine. Maybe last owner used bad gas, maybe I do need a valve job, I don't know. Don't know if this helps even helps at all. |

97-No distributor. I only use premium. How do I check the electromagnetic leads for thr correct resistance? |

Hi Greg, The resistance should be about 3-6.5K ohms per foot. Measure with an ohm meter. |
