I have a 95 Disco with 180,000. My truck started to idle really badly so I changed the plugs. Plugs looked OK but the new plugs didn't help. Soon after, the truck would heat up, almost to the red and I would loose about half my power. Truck drives fairly normal at low speeds but can't make it up a hill at 65. Speed drops to 30 and starts to heat up and half the time the truck begins to shake a moderate amount. Seems like the shaking is coming from everywhere, but moreso from the engine. Even the transfer case lever starts to shake. There was a check engine light on for (34) fuel enjectors. The light went out after I discounected the battery and has not come back on. What the hell is going on??? |

The issues may be unrelated. Have you changed your waterpump yet? It was due at around 120,000 miles. While you are in there, change the timing chain too. Also, what kind of shape is your radiator in? Are your electric fans working? How about the viscous coupling on the fan? Shaking could be the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) or it could be sticking valves. Did you replace your Serpentine belt recently? All of these issues could be due to a mis-routed serpentine belt. I'm not allowed to tell you why I know this. Thanks, Mike B. |
