Hello all. I'm new to the sight (saw it now after I experienced my problem). I have bought a '95 RRC SWB and I'm still learning about it. Anyway, I was having overheating problems so I changed out the thermostat and the temp. sending unit. That didn't work so I pulled the radiator and took it to a local shop to get rodded out. After reinstalling, I took it on a test drive. I got on the highway, but as it downshifted it wouldn't go to the next higher gear. Ultimately, I wound up in first gear (and only first gear). Did I miss something when I reinstalled the radiator or is it a coincidence? Any help would be appreciated - thanks. |

I would suspect that the transmission fluid level is low as a result of the radiator swap. It is inevitable some fluid will be lost when you disconnect the transmission pipes from the radiator etc. Randall |

Well, I refilled the fluid before the test drive and actually drained and refilled the fluid after the test drive. From talking to another friend, I think it is the governor valve (I also saw something about on the Ashcroft site). He has experienced problems like this before when removing the radiator. His theory is that there is very fine sediment in the transmission line that gets disturbed from fumbling with the lines. I guess I'll find out when I get a chance to get to it. |
