Spark Plug Gap

The guy at Auto Zone tells me that the gap is set at .32. I get out the handy dandy LR manual and it says that the gap should be .35 to .40. I have a little less power now than I did before changing the plugs and the old plugs were shot. Need some advice. Should I open them up?
