I broke it this week end while on a trail. It looks like it has no use other than protecting the tie rod or maybe absorb vibrations? Can anybody solve the mystery of this part (cast metal wheel with rubber at the center, about 5" in diameter and located right by the steering dampener on the right of the vehicle) for me? Thanks! It is to absorb vibrations. I know quite a few guys that have taken these off with no change. |

Thanks Scott, That confirms my assumptions. I guess the tie rod can vibrate because of its length vs diameter size at higher speeds. This part has probably a calculated weight to absorb the resonance frequency from the tie rod. All I need to figure out is what speed this happens and I won't drive at that speed... Lionel |
