I am new to the Disco community, and have read nearly all of the recent posts. What I am seeing is that my 96 Disco is going to require alot of preventative maintenance. Is there a listing that will show me what and when to do?

You will probably find a schedule in your owners manual.

If you're a new owner and did not know the previous owner I would suggest to start on your own terms. Go through and change it all. Diff fluids front and rear, transfer case, oil and filter change, and and filter change. I've still yet to change my fluid and filter, though the fluid was replenished almost daily due to a small leak until recently. Be sure to check up on your power steering fluid (Dexron III ATF Fluid), as leaky PS is very common. Best advice is to follow DWEB advice for the most part.. You may get flamed for asking sometimes, but you can always do a search of the old archives for commonly asked questions.

by the way, red dots above are short for TRANYSMISSION fluid.. DWEB doesn't like the abbreviation TARANNY

If you don't have an owner's manual, you can get a schedule from your local dealer. Here's some additional information. http://www.robisonservice.com/servicedep/rover_advice2.asp

Nah! It's all fun. Don't neglect your disco. Stuff drips from everywhere if you don't check it often something may go dry. :-(

Clay, I am new to this as well (got my 96 last Sept). Anyway, I read this discussion board and the one on Rovers North as often as possible. Also (this may sound corny) but I started learning more about the truck by changing my own oil...forced me to get under it and notice any new leaks, wear spots, chips, damage from the last time I was under it or had my head stuck under the hood. Just a suggestion.
