i used to work in a salvage yard, so I have some idea as to what I am doing, but before I start modding my disco, i was wondering, what are some needed tools to get the job done right. even a list of the most basic tools would be appreciated, I would hate to tear my truck apart, only to find out that I don't have the right tourque wrench on a sunday night ;-]

thanks for any input!!

BTW, my first mods will be probably suspention, brakes and tires, then skids and sliders. I have a 2000 disco

also, i may do a seperate post on this, but what do people think of using the factory brush guard with a winch?

first off, get yourself a good tool box and nice set of sockets. You will use those most when you are doing your mods. You can get a nice 150 peice set from sears for pretty cheap, and though they might not be top of the line tools, I have never had a bad experience with them. If you break it, no matter where you are...bring it to a sears and they replace it. I thought that was a pretty good deal.

also, a nice floor jack and jackstands are good to have

a tourq wrench is nice, but if you dont have the money, wait until you can afford a nice one. the one that has the 2 bars and a tourqe guage is shit. get the one where you dial in your setting. Its well worth it.

as for mounting a winch on the factroy brush bar. Its not posible as it stands from the dealer. Its weak, and has no mounting points. LR does make a kit however that has a factory brushbar and winch tray that mounts to the frame. Its overpriced, gives you a horrible approach angle ( ask my why its not on my truck anymore) and for the money they want, you could get an aftermarket winch bumper, winch and sliders
