SRS light stays on all the time. Is there a way to reset the light? My 2000 D2 has 74k miles on it. Or is this a dealer thing? I don't want to go to the dealer ($$) for this one item |

Unless I am wrong, which happens at least twice a day, hmmm wonder what number I am on now. You have to go to the dealer or someone with a testbook to have the SRS light reset. |

Rick, I have a '00 D2 which had the same problem. Dealer claims there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) out for this (connectors causing the problem). Mine happened at about 49K so it was covered under warranty. Jeff |

Rick, Same problem on my '01 D2 at 28,000 miles. The dealer had to replace the driver seat belt stalk. Resetting did not work in my case. Gerry |

The TSB calls for the connectors at the front pretentioners to be cleaned and coated with dielectric grease, it works about 90% of the time. I believe (please do not quote me) that the SRS light on a DII will reset itself after a certain number of drive cycles --- if you fix the issue. I know this because I have seen SRS lights go on and then go off again. Whether it resets and this is the case on all faults or just certain faults I do not know. In any event, the front pretensioners seem to be responsible for at least 90% of all SRS lights on DIIs. If you are game I would try performing the TSB and see what happens. Ron |
