RRC rear shocks

Bought a really old toy last week, busy fixing some stuff. I noted the one rear shock top is afixed on the chassis at a point behind the axle, and the other in front of the axle!! Question: both should be mounted with top in front of axle, no? FWIW - this is a 1972 2-door, still has original engin and 'box. It's dry over here (and no salt in winter) so body not falling apart. But yes there will be plenty surprises still. Will post some pics shortly.
