the serpentine belt on my 99 d2 is squeaking a bit just after starting the vehicle and at low speeds where i am not accelerating. three questions:
any thoughts as to why?
any ideas on how to rememdy (for a non-technical wizard)?
the truck was recently into the dealer for another service item, and he noted the squeak but didn't bother fixing it. should i be concerned/annoyed?

thanks in advance for any helpful feedback.

Mine was doing it also ('97), but stopped recently - the only thing I have done since it WAS squeaking was to pressure-wash the engine compartment.

You can use a "dry lube" stick or even a cake of soap. Start the engine and apply to the belt. Make sure your hands stay clear of the fan blade.

Check your belt. Sounds like its worn.

Spray the belt with WD-40...it will make the noise go away. This is only a temporary fix, though...try www.discountrovers.com for a serpentine belt--they have them for $25.
