the serpentine belt on my 99 d2 is squeaking a bit just after starting the vehicle and at low speeds where i am not accelerating. three questions: any thoughts as to why? any ideas on how to rememdy (for a non-technical wizard)? the truck was recently into the dealer for another service item, and he noted the squeak but didn't bother fixing it. should i be concerned/annoyed? thanks in advance for any helpful feedback. |

Mine was doing it also ('97), but stopped recently - the only thing I have done since it WAS squeaking was to pressure-wash the engine compartment. |

You can use a "dry lube" stick or even a cake of soap. Start the engine and apply to the belt. Make sure your hands stay clear of the fan blade. |

Spray the belt with WD-40...it will make the noise go away. This is only a temporary fix, though...try www.discountrovers.com for a serpentine belt--they have them for $25. Zach |
