I know this has been talked about before but what is the sequence for entering the radio code?

When it says "code" on the radio display, enter the number. I believe the key has to be in the ignition and in the "on" position, and the radio must be switched on first...if the correct code is entered the radio will be usable.

and when the dealer gives you the wrong number you get to spend hours and hours trying to figure out why it wont work...

You only get about 3 or 4 tries on getting the code before the radio will lock you out. After that you have to wait about a half hour to an hour with the key on in your radio before it will let you try again.

Also, the radio will emit a beep after you've keyed in the last number, regardless of whether you've done the right combination of numbers or not. If you've done it incorrectly or are only on say your 3rd number when it beeps, start over with the first number...

If the code doesn't appear to work, you can always verify your radio code with the dealer. If you've verified the code and it still doesn't work, there's a chance that the radio was replaced at some point in time. If that's the case, pull the radio and run the serial number on the back of the radio against the dealerships computer.

IIRC, replaced radios are normally supposed to be marked with a big "X" in magic marker on the back of the radio unit (could be wrong about that though).

Thanks,
Nathan Hindman
