I've found a few places to buy tires cheap. But not mounted. I could drive down to a shop and have them mount the tires for another $100 but . . . Has anybody ever changed their own tires? |

I believe you need a bead breaker and some "tyre plyers" and alot of elbow grease. Not sure if these are available in the States. They aren't cheap here (OZ). I'd pay the money and forget the hassle. gtt |

David-- Where do you live? Here in Tennessee, we have CO-OP. Don't know if that exists in your area, but if it does, they will do it for $6/tire. Try that out before you screw something up...if you don't have CO-OP, check around at some of the other local farming cooperational places...Tractor Supply Company, etc. FWIW... Zach |

mounting tires for 100.00? That seems a little steep. If you can get the old tires off you can use gas to get the new ones on. Gas makes the rubber super slick. |

Gas? In an enclosed space? That gets hot when I drive? I think I'll just get them mounted. . . . |

I bought my tires from tirerack.com and had them mounted with new valves and spin balanced for $20 a tire. Considering all the charges, it was still way cheaper than buying at a local tire shop. |

Yes. 5 tires X $20 = $100. It's still cheaper to mount 5 Dunlop RT's at $650 (total) than 5 BFG's at $972. I'll probably go with Dunlops for now. I can put $329 towards rock sliders instead of tires. Maybe in two or three years I'll have a set of BFG M/T's. And maybe I'll have a 14k gold toilet? |
