Hey everybody ... I just bought my first Discovery. It has 73,000 miles on it and I paid $10,400 for it. It is in OUTSTANDING condition. So far I love it!
I have a question already though, WHERE DO I FIND SCREWS TO FIT THE DAMN LICENSE PLATE HOLES!!! I have tried 5mm and 6mm, and the American equivalents. What are you supposed to use? Land Rover-issued, nickel-plated, 300 dollar screws??
I'm not going to let this frustrate me ... I know there's a lot more 'good times' to come for me and my Rover.

BETTER YET--- Take some from a rover that's at the dealership--they are always trying to fuck you over with prices...I figure it's about time for some restitution.

Seriously though, is there a special size that they use??

Patrick-
I'm in Cleveland...about 30 miles northeast of Chattanooga, right in the elbow between GA and NC. If you ever get a chance, come over this way--we have some pretty good 'wheeling.

As far as locking screws go, check a local parts store or something. To be honest, I have no idea where to find them. Good luck, though.

Best-
Zach

Will do.

I've tried all the parts stores around here.

Anybody else have a suggestion?

I'm using those self-tapping plastic plugs you use to hold trim pieces in.

I don't know wtf I'm going to do when I have to remove the plate ... probably end up with chunks of plastic in the door.

Though I'm never planning on removing the plate unless I sell it ;)

Thread size is 6mm - if that doesn't fit - then somebody before you has buggered up the threads - very common.

Do a search in the archives. There was a thread about securing license plates and resources to get special screws. In the meantime, you can get Torx screws at a hardware store. I would venture to guess that most thieves are not carrying around torx drivers.
