Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix my rear wiper. It does not appear to be the fuse. It does not make any noise when switched on. The light on the switch does not light up as well. Iv'e tried wd-40 and giving it a nudge to get it going - but it still lies dormant. Anybody?

First, since you haven't mentioned if the wiper has ever worked or not.

I know that my rear wiper only works with the Disco in gear.

Second, If that is not the issue, remove the rear tire, and pop of the little cover at the end of the wiper arm and insure that the nut is tight.

Any other symptoms would help.

does the switch illuminate when the parking lights re switched on?
Maybe the socket and plug were not fully seated and 'came adrift'. also, are all the doors closed? i know the Rangie classics won't allow the wiper to operate if the door or upper tailgate are open.

The wiper was not functioning when I got the Disco. It will not work at all - even in gear. I cannot hear any motor sound at all when on (not in gear though). The fuse , I understand, for the wiper is also for the cruise control which works fine. I'll try and pry the spare off and take a look. At present the bolts are rusted and are on pretty tight. (the LR lug wrench is useless).
I doubt it is a mattter of tightening a nut because the lack of any life ( motor sound) comming from wiper.
Thanks for the input Joey!

The switch does not illuminate when lights are on. Even with all doors and gate shut the wiper won't wipe. The rear windshield washer works great though!

If the rear windshield washer works great, you are one up on me. Mine takes around 30 to 40 seconds before it starts to spray. Thinking about putting in a one way check valve on the line to the sprayer.

Sorry that my advise to the wiper didn't work. Pull the button and check for voltage, if that doesn't work, try taking the inside of the tail gate off, and put a constant 12 volts to the wiper motor and see if it works.

May just be a bad wire going to the back.
