A while back the anit-lock dash light came on in my 97' Disco SD -- brakes seemed to be working fine... Recently, I brought the truck to the dealer and had them run a fault code check. The check produced no fault codes. Now they want to go fishing for the "problem." Any thoughts or advice on what the problem is (and how to fix it)would be appreciated? Thanks!!

One possible problem could be the Brake switch. When they are on the way out they cause the ABS light to come on. Mine did that, get one and replace it or it will leave you stranded, once they go you cannot shift out of park.

Same happened to me, no codes. I found the plug directly above the rear diff un-pluged. I pluged it back in and the light went off.

Mine went out and it was a bad sensor ring. It got mangled when I lost a bearing and continued the journey back home.

We have had three Discos and 1 95 Classic Rangie come through with the same issue- light on, system working fine, no codes. All 4 had faulty anti-lock warning relays. It is located behind the glove box on the tray of relays. It has 4 wires colored brown/pink;black/slate; and 2 blacks.
This may not be the answer, but it is fairly common.
E-mail or call if you have more questions.

Same problem here on 96 Disco, my problem was ABS sensors that went bad. However when I went over a bump (ie. parking lot speed bump) and applied the brakes at the same time, my ABS kicked on.

97 disco, manual shift, ABS light keeps coming on and have had the occassional coming on of ABS when it should not. Scared the s*** out of me today so need to get sorted. Told that the ABS sensor on the rear is a single unit that serves both sides and costs +$500. Is this so?

Martyn, I had the same problem. The dealer charged me $600 for the sensors and $200 for labor to replace them.
