If anyone gets up in the area of Highlands, NC. I would highly recommend a ride with these folks. http://www.highlandsafari.com/
They are very nice and run a great little tour.

David,
I've always wondered about them, I have a vacation house in the area there and have stopped by there several times but no one is ever there. How was the ride, where did they take you and were you driven or did you drive? thanks

He runs two tours a day 7 days a week. One at 9 am the other at 1:00pm. They do dinner tours as well if you book them. The owner of the place drove. Its a tour on private land. Its about three hours long and includes, history of the area and nature. Nice little drive down through all types of terrain. Had to use the winch once, to work up out of a slick hill from all the rain.

Brett W., where is your vacation home in Highlands? I had to do some work in a private neighborhood a month or so back and that place was vacant as can be. I am thinking the name of the place was something like Wildcats & Cliffs Country Club or something like that, I know that I was working on Rock Gap Road though.. Ring any bells?

Robert, definately rings a bell, if I'm not mistaken its between the town Cashiers and Highlands. Our house is actually in Cashiers area which is about 15 minutes from highlandsafari.

I just had to go out there on one occasion, and I drove over from Hendersonville, NC. That was one hell of a drive in the Disco with the M/Ts on at the time. I drove through Cashiers though, and it was noted to me that it was pronounced "CASHERS", not "CASHIERS (like at the grocery store). If you kept on that main road of which I forget the number, through Cashiers then to ?Highland Cove Area? perhaps.. anyhow, I guess it's really not important..

I do recall seeing 2 or 3 old Series Rovers that day though while in Cashiers.. Later.. RS

Hey Frank where is Moses Creek? I have done the Caney Fork trail and it was real fun to do. I got a problem with my Discovery overheating right now, but if I get it fixed I would be interested. Charles

hey charles do you ride dirt bikes?

Cashiers is prolly 2 hours or a little less west of asheville. There is alot of stuff up Caney Fork I mtn bike and wheel up there.

The moses creek trails are on the same road as you ride to get to the Caney Fork trails.

No i used to race motocross, but that was in the dark ages. The 70s. I could go for a dirt bike, but a mountain bike....I don't think so. Are you at Western Carolina University? I live about 10 miles south of Asheville. Charles

Frank, or anyone else,
I have a vacation home in the lake Glenville area and many of the guys in the Florida Rover club have told me about a trail that is right near my house, is that the one you were talking about. Do live up there full time. Next time I'm up there I'd love to go on some trails with you or anyone else in the area. Thanks.

Moses Creek is right off of Caney Fork. There are series of trails all over the place - all on public land so no worries about trespassing!

Brett - probably is the trail your friends are talking about.

I'll be back in Cashiers on Sunday - give me a call if anyone is interested for a ride on Monday - 828-743-7505

Frank
