just had to replace the coolant sensor on my 88rr, 3.9. if the white part of the coolant gauge were broken up into 1/8" segments, where should the red pointer be when the vehicle reaches temperature? 1/4? 1/2? 5/8? etc.... |

One half, but the gauge is known for it's inaccuracy. -P |

Just did recore and flush, gauge sits a little below half in all conditions.

Same as above. Recore, flush, new thermostat, and new temp. sending unit. Just below half. |

Perrone is correct, the oem gauge is NOT accurate for the most part. I know of two RRCs that are running in the 200 deg range (using aftermarket mech gauge) while the OEM gauge still stays in the half way mark. In both of these cases, the aux fans are coming on w/o running the A/C, indicating a "hotter than normal" running condition. The owners are currently tryingn to figure out the cause of the overheating. |

Did recore, therm, waterpump, flush, and mine runs just above the lower white mark, never ever gets to 1/2, at the most it will run halfway between the lower white mark and the half way point...and that is only if I let it sit for 15min idling on hot day (90+) with A/C on... |

Thanks Steve. Prior to the recore, flush, therm etc, mine was running just below 1/2, then if it idled or I sat in traffic it would creep up to 3/4. Now when I say it currently runs just above the lower white mark, I donot mean the white mark at the very bottom of the gauge, but the two marks that define the normal range, it currently runs just above the lower of those two marks. Now, prior to the recore etc, even when it was running 3/4, just below the upper white mark of the normal range, the coolant was still not boiling, so I know thw gauge works, and it appears to be fairly accurate?????When you say 9/16 -5/8, is that the whole gauge, or is that within the normal range? |

Tim...my gauge has a solid white strip, a space, and then the red mark. so, i am referencing the white mark as a 1" long line, with 1/2" = the center of the white line. |
