A few weeks ago I posted a thread on my poor running discovery . It was running good cold but when it got warm it would start to stumble and skip. I checked codes and needed to replace O2 sensors, so I did that, changed coolant temp sensor also. As soon as I started my truck after O2 sensor change I noticed my tach was not working as well as my batt. light was on...need a new alternator I suppose. help??...but here is where I am confused...still have the skip and stutter after O2 change and water temp sensor....I am confused and bewildered...could it be fuel pump??...the thing is when I mash the gas it takes right off with no problem..if it was the pump it would hesitate then right??? I need help $600 later and still runs bad |

What's the condition of your plug wires? If you're uncertain when they were last replaced, I'd start there. I've used Sea Foam in the past and it works well enough, but it's not too often that the solution to a mechanical problem comes in a can. I had similiar problems, people told me to replace plug wires. I knew for a fact that they were wrong but, because I was unsure how old they were, replaced them anyway. That was the problem. In short, do the routine maintenance first (which probably needs to be done anyway) THEN, if the problem persists, start looking at the bigger things. "If you hear hoofbeats, think 'horses', not 'zebras'". Jim |
