Ok, please no flaming...One of my faux wood pieces fell off the dash and I want to know where I can get the two sided 3m tape to stick it back on again. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have checked a number of stores locally and can't seem to find anything comparable. Additionally, I'd rather use tape than glue to avoid doing any permanent damage to the dash.

Thx!

I've found the thin 2-sided tape in craft stores such as Michael's and Ben Franklin's.

And for the record, I wouldn't say the faux wood was bling if it was OEM package.

Try a marine supply store if you have one in your area. They should have everything you need.

I found 3M double-sided auto tape at a NAPA of all places. Right by the 3M detailing stuff. Try there...

You can also try and Radio Controlled hobby shop... We tend to use a lot of double sided tape.

...and Todd, if it's OEM, it's not fake wood. It's real. ...and VERY expensive new. Really impressive craftsmanship.
It's nice, too. I don't think it's worthy of flaming, nor do I think it's bling bling.

hey Todd i think the kind of double sided adhesive is made by 3M but its not the same stuff you buy from NAPA or Kragen or any of those over the counter places. I bought some of the 3M tape that is availible over the counter style and it sucks to put it bluntly. its double sided foam and it will fall off after a little while especially if it gets a nice long exposure to some direct sun. after like 2 weeks you'll probably come out and find your nice real wood panel laying on the floor boards. what you need to do is go to an automotive paint and bodywork supply store and ask for the double sided tape that is used to adhere that heavy plastic body panel trim strips on. 3M makes some and there's also another manufacture whos name escapes me.

this is just my opinion but I'd suggest looking into it beofre you use the over the counter stuff. i used the over the counter stuff on a trim panel and not only did it fall off, but the foam tape is a bitch to peel off.

p.s. I'm still unclear as to the exact definition of "bling-bling" i may be dense but i'd still like further explanation on that term.

Man, Alyssa is so right. I couldn't believe how many Rangies (to include the new '03) that have been blinged out.

For the record folks, Bling Bling has been added to the dictionary this year. It was such a big deal that it made Fox News:-)

Actually, Jason, NAPA sells the "real" 3M automotive double-sided tape. As I said before, at my NAPA it's kept with the 3M pro products...

What is the definition of "bling-bling"? Is it an onomatopoeia for something?

Loose definition: anything flashy or ostentatious, like jewelry, "phat" chrome rims, etc.

From AP:

June 7, 2003 | LONDON --

Khazi, minging, bling-bling? Not some crazy new dialect, but standard British vocabulary, according to the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary, published Friday.

The publishers said they have added almost 6,000 new words and phrases that reflect 21st century life, including the frowner's favorite, Botox, passion-enhancing drug Viagra and sambuca, the aniseed liqueur served with a flaming coffee bean.

Among the 187,000 definitions in the latest edition, published by Oxford University Press, there is also bevvy -- British slang for a beer; head-case, referring to a person who exhibits irrational behavior; and bling-bling, a reference to elaborate jewelry and clothing, and the appreciation of it.

Half-inch, Cockney rhyming slang for pinch, or steal, also makes it into the dictionary this time around.

Some of the new terms, including cut-and-paste, screensavers and search engines, reflect the growing influence of computers, while hands-free phones and phreaking, the expression for hacking into phone systems for free calls, acknowledge developments in telecommunications.

Other corporate-speak considered established enough for inclusion in the dictionary includes dot-coms, or Internet companies, and blipverts, subliminal TV adverts of just a few seconds' duration.

And J.R.R. Tolkien's fictional world in " The Lord of the Rings" is also recognized. Orcs are defined as "members of an imaginary race of ugly, aggressive human-like creatures." The dictionary says the word probably comes from the Latin orcus meaning hell, or the Italian orco, meaning monster.

Getting down to basics, the new dictionary now makes it all right to describe the khazi (toilet) as minging (disgusting).

Nate and Jason,
Not all NAPA's are created equal...those in the midwest (at least in Ohio) are far higher quality than the ones I've been into out here in Philly (more like a Peep Boys or Autozone). Depends where you are in this wild wild world.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I've been impressed with NAPA out here... They even color matched a 3M paint to my old ass Porsche 924 with faded metallic silver. It looked damn close..!

And whaddya know, I'm in OH :-)
