I am thinking of having a local fabricator help put together a skid plate for the front of my Disco II with an ARB front end. Any helpful suggestions as to materials, patterns or designs? Any particular things to be aware of? Thanks guys. Jay |

I made a gas tank skid and used aprox.1/4" aluminum. I got a piece that was roughly the size I needed, figured out how much a bend I needed and where it needed to be trimmed. Took it to a sheet metal shop, they mainly did duct work for HVAC, but they had the ability to cut and bend the aluminum, even the thick stuff. It was really cheap and I almost wonder if it would have been a lot more to use a machine shop. Also, I counter sunk the mounting screws and used flush allen head screws, I even put a coat of paint on the screws before I put them in, not stainless! Good luck. |
