Who drives without any swaybars? Removed my rear along time ago, now have the front off (4.5" lift, front D-shaft hits at any droop) and will have the D1 back on the road this week (fingers crossed). My previous non-rover 4x4s were swaybar f/r removal victims and I never noticed a big difference. Also, anyone make spacers to lower the front s/b to compensate for the lift? I'd consider disconnects if I could drop it down, not sure if its worth the time making the bracket.

I just took mine off, and I fell no difference except going around round-abouts. Thats it really. Many other say their's sway quite a bit, but I have not had a problem or anything.

I am driving with an RTE 3" lift and no swaybars whatsoever. It's been that way for well over a year, and I have not noticed any major changes at all. The first day, it felt really strange, but you get used to it, and IMHO it doesn't really make driving feel any different.

Just curiuos why you remove these? Is it because of the lift you've done? Gas mileage?? (kidding)

I think its really just a matter of personal preference as to how much body lean you deem acceptable. Both of mine are off and I have no problem, but others complain. Just pull it and decide for yourself.

Roger,

With a 4.5" lift I would say that you are already used to the truck acting kind of funny anyway. I don't think you will notice any difference without the front sways.

I have an SG 3link which requires the removal of sway bars. I also have ome hd springs. I can't say that I have noticed much difference.

The reason is that the front drive shaft hits the front swaybar. I actually noticed it on accident, while under the truck, I had it on jackstands with the tires on and the droop, with tires still on the ground, had the front d/s resting on the swaybar. I just got the truck back together and didnt notice a differnce w/o it. Thanks for the input.

Has anyone had a DII (which seems to have heavier bars than D1) with quick disconects/or have removed bar and can compare without bar removed - I assume articulation and travel would be well up; I am considering quick disconnects.

Cheers

I have the bars off my wifes D1 it sways a ton with RTE springs and neutral offset rims.. I am also in the process of building a Dll style bar that fits in front of the axle that is: 1) easy to disconnect. 2)Doesn't get in the way of the driveshaft. 3) doesn't even come close to the POS that was originally mounted! Hellwig does custom sway bars in their off season.. I plan to have a number of them made.

Scott, If you find any quick disconnects for a DII somewhere in Oz, let me know. Waiting for my tax return so I can spend some cash on he Disco, quick disconnects would go nicely with the lift and the muddies.

On second thoughts it would probably be better to take a cordless drill with socket and remove the thing altogether - otherwise it might hang and catch on something - if its not connected and hanging there it could be damaged.

Don't change lanes on the highway quickly at 80 mph. Actually with a 4.5 lift you probably don't want to go that fast anyway.
