Last year, I removed the air dam and factory fog lights and replaced them with Hella 550's mounted on the brush bar. Never had a real opportunity to use them, though, until just a few weeks ago. Last week, I noticed that the hood liner was shredded just above the battery. Doesn't look like any critter got in there, but I also don't see evidence of battery acid. Could it be that the battery got too hot while I had the fog lights on? Do fog lights draw that much from the battery to cause over-heating? Any ideas?

If the battery got hot enough to shred your hood liner, you'd definitely have a melted battery casing!

Check to see if your battery terminals are scraping the liner, and maybe double check for mouse droppings...

You don't have to worry. Two fog lights don't present much of a load.
