Australia (with one L :-)) => Aussie => OZ

It's Australian for Australia, where we sent all the cons - oops! did I say that :-)

Phillip - comes from 'Aussie' - slang for "Australian"; a derivitive later you get "OZ" as is "Ozzie". Seemed to come to fame with the "Land Down Under Song" when we flogged the America's Cup in the 80's. We now seem to get "Down Under" and "The Land of OZ".

Cheers

Phillip - "pints" - I take it you mean pint as in a good sized glass of beer (some states here call them "Schooners"). Most blokes here still prefer getting a carton (you call it a slab i think?) and drink their beers straight from the bottle. We are getting pretty big into home brewing though (you fellas call it micro brewing dont you?) and I got to say it tastes pretty good. 15 years ago it used to taste like horse piss but it has come a long way in that time.

Keep trucking.

We still do - its called VB. Here in Queensland however we enjoy XXXX which is the better of the 2 I reckon.

s

BTW - I have tasted a number of Northen American Beers and they need to be brewed again before sale; weak as piss!

Corona is OK but a bit yuppie.

Glenn, we only use horse piss as a yard stick when trying each others homebrew, you know, lowest common denominator.

Scott, don't forget the Tooheys and Reches (the beer we drink around here!!!). But that VB - wouldn't even wash me Disco with it.

Gotta agree with ya on the American beer, as Monty Python use to say "its like making love in a canoe - f@#king to close to water"smilie face

How can you take an Aussies word on the taste of beer when they eat Vegi-mite?(sp) Possibly the most vile substance made for human consumption, even though poi runs a close second.

Besides I always prefered Castle Rock when I was there in the early eighties.

The reason Queenslanders drink XXXX (fourex) is that they don't know how to spell piss.

And only two states really play rugby; the rest play proper football...Aussie Rules! As fast as soccer, and almost as violent as rugby

spent a couple of my formative years (early high school) in Bendigo, Victoria. only got to have beer on special events (which seems like every other weekend in Australia), or occasionaly when i was hanging out with my crazy friends/mates. think the beer you are talking about was toohey's (?). also picked up smoking on the Peter Jackson's over there (blue's and dark blues, whatever the chip shop sold us).
