OK I bought a Fram PH16 filter because that's what the Fram book specified. Then I looked and the last oil change done by my mechanic they used Fram PH2339. Then when I do a search I see Fram 8A listed, and also many people referring to Fram as POS. What is the answer? I think I'll but a NAPA gold... |

Cut a Fram filter in half and then cut a NAPA Gold filter in half.... you'll never use a Fram again! |

NAPA is made by the same people that make the Genuine filters. thats what I heard. Napa gold are excellent filters. if you are rich you can get those K&N filters. |

Wix makes filters for just about anyone. CarQuest, NAPA, etc. but they are not all created equal. they are all built to slightly different specs. i am only using Wix (CarQuest) in my Rover. might be getting a deal on some Crosland filters. at one point they were OE for LR i believe. they are a nice dark blue!! |

I used to use Fram PH16 on my '97 D1. I then read (on this board) about about engine knock at startup. I then began listening for this, and could hear it clearly using the Fram. I then switched to the NAPA Gold filter and have never, ever heard the knock again. |
