What is the most correct/common method of checking the t-case fluid. I've read several different ways (hot and cold), with the car on, with it off, in Neutral, in Drive, in Park. How do you guys check it? I checked mine Saturday and I "think" that it needed fluid. On the dipstick there are 2 holes. Should the fluid be between these holes or what? I would just like a reasonable answer. Thanks all. Jack 99D1 |

Tcase (LT230) has no dipstick - only fill and drain plugs. You must be looking at autotrans dipstick (assuming a D1 because D2 don't have) - if so, check in neutral, cold. Bill |

With the engine on, by the way; and the fluid level should be betwen the two holes. John |

I wondered the same thing. I checked it after a short trip while idling in neutral at a gas station and it looked overfull. Ichecked the manual and it states that the car must be cold, started, then shifted to 3rd, I think, then back to neutral and then checked through the dipstick while idling in neutral. It was drier then a bone, for me. I filled through the dipstick neck until it was between the lines. I dunno if it's correct but that's what I did. Santo 98 Disco LSE |
