I thought the Borg Warner unit took standard 80/90 gear oil. A quick look in the manual states ATF for the T-Case. I just drained it and it certainly looks like regular gear oil and not ATF. What's the story? Is ATF correct? |

After right around 89 the RR used a chain and pump in the xfer case, requiring ATF. Gear Oil is used in the earlier gear driven cases. Prolonged use of gear oil in these cases will burn the pump up. |

Quaker-state has a new ATF Multi-vehicule that fits in 99% of all makes and is semi-synthetic holds up to more heat and has better flowing capacities in the cold.Price is affordable can get it at most napa,carquest stores. |

Might have just been really old ATF in there. I refilled it with Valvoline ATF Dexron III. Thanks for the input. |
