Does anyone have any "proof" beyond web-hearsay that the official LR Center (dealerships) test tracks were altered in '99 when the Series 2 Discovery came out and again when the Freelander came out?

I've read this on tons of LR boards, but now I've got a guy (on another BB) who says he has worked at a LR dealership since '96 and they've never changed theirs and my info is all wrong.

Just trying to establish some credibility,

Thanks
Dave

I used to spend a lot of time at LR Westchester, in PA, and I can tell you they didn't alter theirs. The freelanders can just barely make it over without scraping.

Cheers,

on the down ramp section they cut the middle out so it doesnt scratch on the trailer hitch. i thought it was done for the disco2 but it might have been the freelander. i've seen it with me own two eyes at land rover denver east last year.

ones that were "changeable" were changed. Some of the early ones arent the looser rock type surfaces and they cant be changed. The departure angle had to be changed for the D2 and the center of the tracks had to be changed for the freelanders insanely large muffler. The hitch on the D2 takes a beating on the old tracks. Also, not all tracks are freelander compliant. I guess the proof would be my own eyes.

I worked at a LR Center at the time the Disco II came out. They installed a "measuring device" in the trailer hitch to make sure nothing scraped. As I recall ours didn't and nothing was changed.
