haven't made that decision yet...here's what I think,(for what it's worth)
#1. Home Brew. I couldn't weld my way out of a tissue paper bag. Some of the guys here have made thier own. Klye's is sweet(even though he threw it out the window), Greg Davis has an awesome one. I would by one from Greg, if he made them for the average joe, he's not doing that yet so...
#2. Trekoufitters is sweet. Has pretty good departure angles...pricy...hasn't been thrown out any windows yet...
#3. ARB, piece of shit, sorry if I'm offending anyone, but I've had way too many problems from the start with mine. Look in the archives, there's a lenghty discussion about what happened with mine...look out of Klye's window...
#4. Safari Gard...don't know, saw the price and ran away...not a lot of good thing said about that either, it's also out Klye's window...
There are some other options, but I haven't looked very far...I'm working with the guy's who do all our fabricating where I work, so maybe I can come up with something that I like, doesn't cost a "Million Dollars" and better yet, I can throw it out the window when I don't like it or it fuck's up the front of my DII even more...

I give up. The size / depth limit for pictures is kicking my ass.

I have the ARB. I like it. I have pictures on the Disco owners group listed under V22Guy.

... here I am on another bumper post, LOL (not poking fun, I would love to have a new front bumper, just have to fix up house first - direct orders from Dh)

I know several people (here it comes ... the second hand bullsh*t, LOL) that own D2's with the ARB bumper ... They seem to do pretty well. Ron L.'s pics speak for themselves. If you browse the photo galleries both here, and on EE, you'll find some more pics. (Frank: No way am I doubting you either - no disrespect, I know you had some valid points).

My question is, what about insurance? .... I know this may be naive, but has anyone ever had any experience after an accident, (as far as payout and claims go) with an aftermarket bumper? In other words, any problems because of it?

Sorry, "BigJoeJack" not trying to take away from your thread here ....

Yeah, I know what you mean about house stuff. I just had a new roof installed and now my heat pump / air handler is threatening my wallet. The ARB was installed two weeks ago, so now the score is House 1 / Rover 1.

As far as insurance goes, I had a minivan pull out in front of me last year when I had my own brushguard on (not my current bumper). Scratched the paint on the guard and opened her van up like a sardine can. No problems whatsoever. She pulled out in front of me so it was her fault. If I had been at fault it may have been an issue. I don't know.

Hey Kim,
I agree, lot's of people have them, it just depends on what you are looking for...insurance, hmmm...I think(emphasis on "THINK", and i'll call my insurance company to find out) that it doesn't matter what you have on the front of your truck. My old J##p had a piece of steel welded to the front and I had no problem with insurance...good question though...just watch the install on the ARB...ALL THE HARDWARE NEEDS TO INSTALLED FOR IT NOT TO MOVE...mine still moves a little even with heavy duty bolts...

BigJoeJack,

Yes, indeed I do like my ARB. For multiple reasons.

However I'm not in the same camp as Mongo. Mine has performed flawlessly to date (hope I don't hex myself). It's worked well winching other LR's out of mud, as well as taken a few good hits to the sides and front as well as under side. But hasn't moved. I'll even admit that a few nights ago, tired from a long day at work. I sped into my Apt. garage a little too fast, and wammo! Pounded a support pillar with the front/side of the bumper. Hit so hard and fast, the rig rode up, kinda, the pillar. Backed off and checked damage and alignment. Powdercoat was intact, and the bumper, crush cans included, were perfectly aligned.

It seems worth the money to me.

Cheers,
Dave M.

Thanks Dave, I'm going to get one. What price has everyone gotten theirs for? I think EE is lowest I've seen.

Well, EE, is lowest posted on the web. I got mine through Nathan at Discount Rovers. I will say that Nathan's price is cheaper, however, if you want customer service with that bumper, then go through EE. I have been doing business with Nathan since he started and like him very much. But when buying a bumper or something that may need install or similar support, he does not have the background.

But, to each his/her own.
