Bad vibe in 97 Disco, culprit is front u-joint. Can I drive without front prop shaft?
Short duration of drivig, day or so and yes we all know, diff-lock high...
Why do I ask? When I removed the T-case end of the prop shaft, small amount of fluid spilled out. Damn, this ain't no Ford! Well now it is, but back in 97... Just want to recheck sanity before I hop-in and drop off my propshaft for new u-joints.
T-case diagram does not show open-system, so where the fluid came from is beyond me, but it was only teaspoon full, but enough to make me ask and research.

Thanks
Bruce

I've been driving around like that for a while (temporary need of better gas milleage). Just take it off and lock the CDL.

Thanks. Seen other posts as such, and workshop manual shows seal for T-case, so I wanted to make sure I was not missing something.
Cool... off to the driveline shop in the AM.

Bruce, felt seal in the splined section of the tcase output flange is probably leaking. It's only about a 10 minute job to R&R once the DS is removed.

You'll need a 1 3/16" 6 point to remove output flange nut. Slide puller helps to remove flange if it is tight.

Damn Carter, 11mpg? I thought mine was bad at 12. I keep hearing about everyone getting 15 and thought there must be something wrong with my truck. I still only get 13 when I'm on trips on the hwy, off course the pedal speeds alot of time pinned to the floor.
