My 94LWB threw a code 44. I know that refers to the o2 sensor, but what are the chances of multiple codes and can I check for other codes before replacing the sensor? Since I will need to order the sensor, I would like to be able to order, if needed, everthing I would need at once.
Also, has anyone ever messed with the ECU system to show multiple codes? It would be great if I could just hook up a laptop and see everything...

Mike

Mike:
If you follow the correct procedure for clearing your codes, any others will be displayed as you clear each code sequentially. The codes will appear in the order they were detected (or was it backwards, ie last code read first detected-something like that).

Peace,
Paul

Paul,
I was able to clear the code and thankfully it didn't come back and no others showed up. I was just concerned that if I cleared the code (i.e. disconnected battery) would it still show the initial 44 because the problem wasn't technically fixed or would it assume I fixed the problem and show the next code, if there was one.
I guess the problem was I didn't follow the correct procedure...but everything seems to be ok now...

Thanks!

Mike:
Your '94 should have the white serial connector beneath the passenger seat, with key in position one, disconnect the connector, count to ten, reconnect, turn key off, wait for realy to drop, turn key to position one. If the check engine light persists, there is an additional code to be read.

When the battery is disconnected, the ECU is rebooted and codes can and often are lost. If you get a code 02 after disconnecting the battery, it is the ECU telling you it has been reset and power restored.

Now, my personal experience-last night, my Disco threw a 44. A quick poke around the engine compartment (with particular attention paid to Oxygen sensor connections), reset the codes and bingo, I'm good to go.

PEace,
Paul

I thought it may get lost when I disconnected the battery, but I usually keep a pretty good eye on that thing anyway...
I figured it was getting hot and the AC was on full, just a fluke...we'll see if it pops up again...

Thanks for your hell Paul...
