FYI, I just had Discount Tire replace my entire set of 20 lugs on my DII because they distroyed them using standard size sockets, not metric, to take them off. They got so messed up I could not take them off with the factory wrench.

Eric,

I think Discount Tires mangled your lug nuts not because they used SAE, but because they didn't have the right size impact socket in their shop. I have used both the 27mm metric and 17/16" SAE sockets, and I think the 17/16" fits better than the 27mm, not worse. The difference between the two is slight and probably wouldn't make a difference when using a breaker bar. But when you're using an impact wrench, the slightly better fit of the 17/16" makes a difference and deforms the lug nut less.

if you are getting money to buy all new ones, go with the solid "range rover classic" type. they are not capped and are superior in my opinion.
