Hey Guys,

Been a while since I've been on here... Just got a 2000 SII, wow, what a difference from my 94...

Either way I got about 44,000 on the clock and I want to know what I might look for to get fixed before the warranty runs out. Any thoughts?

Also, I'm gonna get flamed for this, but will the new range 19 inch rims fit the SII lug pattern and wheel well? Can I just swap them out? I have some 16s right now if anyone wants to trade for the 18s or 19s (plus some cash)...

Thanks for you guys thoughts in advance!

Ben

Why stop at 18s or 19s ? Why not 22s ? And put the little LED lights on the valve stems and blue neon lights behind the 22 inch chrome wheels.
AtlanticBritish has them.

Hey thanks for stupid response... Guess you got me... Guess everyone on this board drives their rover on the 'camel trophy' route to starbucks in the morning... Get real man... Plus the 19s seem to be quite capable off-road on the new RR?

Sorry, couldn't resist. I've been in rare form today. I may not get off road as much as some. But when I do, I can go the distance.
Haven't been to a Starbuck's since '99. Except for that one in Penang, Malaysia to ask for directions last year. Boycotted them because of their corporate predatory tactics.
19s may do alright in the mild stuff. I don't think they were intended for offraod use. The shorter your side wall, the less cushion or flex. Hit a rock off road, and that rim is a trout line sinker if it can't be repaired.

Luis - you just wont find many fans of x>16 rims sizes. It may be true that the board is 'overbuilding' their rigs for offroad (not all will utilize the small rim and will spend more time on the road where bigger rims would make for better road manners), but it a being prepared mentality. I went with steel 15" rims under the same thought. With a lift, removed swaybars, etc, the car is not going to handle as well on the road, so the benefits of reduced sidewalls on the street with 19"rims doesnt make sense at that point. Back to your question, I dunno but would think so. (new RR rims on DII)

To answer your question Ben (since no one else is) I also have a 2000 D2 41K. What you should look for is.... Make sure the radiator has been replaced since 99s and early 2000s D2 had problems with them. I am sure it has been changed since you have 44K. Also watch out for the valves and rocker arm assembly(Ticking noise from engine) I replaced my rocker arms under warrenty but alot of Rovers need a valve job. Also make sure that the recalls were done, these were the throttle cable and the SLABS unit. One more thing is that the intake gaskets, or valve gaskets not sure what they are called, (they are the gaskets around the valve covers) watch them because they might leak, mine did. If I missed anything the guys on this board will add something. Good Luck Ben!!

Wouldn't it just be better to purchase the extended warranty and not have to worry about what to look for going out? Many things go out at between 50K and 75K. Mine has paid for it's self atleast once over, and is getting ready to pay for it's self again. I'm at 83K and my transmission has been actin funny. Don't know how much more is planned to fail before 100K.
