I have been running the N46 in the rear for some time. Anyone have comments on the N44 shock.

I think I will do the N73 in the front.

Mine is a 95 Disco 1.

Comments? Maybe it doesn't matter that much. I have read the recommendations of Expedition Exhange, but would like to hear some practical advice if anyone has some.

I can't compare N46 to N44 but I just put on N44 this weekend from the stock woodhead. the N44 are not harsh at all and my 97 disco feels like a ferrai on the road and pretty damn nice on some ruff forest service roads. Also towing my boat this weekend was a pleasure.

Just curious, what did you put on the front?

Brian,

Are you looking for the 3" or 2" OME lift? I ask because the 2" and 3" lifts take different shocks.

I have 3" lift using Rovertym springs and want an OME shock to match them. I was planning on the N73 front and N44 rear. Likely I'll do you extension trick too.

Any advice?

Thanks! Brian

Do you know what the spring rates are on the RTE 3" springs?

Arg... nope. I bought them used and did not get that information. Some information that *might* help:

Measurements of OME setup loaded with about 500 lbs of gear.
DS- Rear: 20"
PS- Rear: 19"
DS- Front: 19 3/4"
PS- Front: 18 3/4"

Measurements of Rovertym setup, same gear loaded.
DS- Rear: 20 7/8"
PS- Rear: 20"
DS- Front: 20 3/8"
PS- Front: 20 3/4"

I know the data is a bit weird, I measured this pretty much right before and after I put on the RTE springs. there was a bit more weight on the PS.

I am running N45 N46 now. Will N73/N44 work?

Yeah, go with N73 front and N44 rear. The N44 is a little short for a 3" lift though. Go with the Scorpion Mounts for the rear:

Hey John,
Right now I have N46's in the rear with a $G drop kit. Since I have 763's with EE 1" spacers, do you think I could get away with the Scorpion shock mounts too? Or will the N46's bottom out offroad using the drop kit and the Scorpion mounts?

Greg,

I think you're fine with your current set-up. The SG drop kit extends the rear shock 2.5" or 3.0" (I can't remember which). The Scorps effectively extend your shock 2.0". I prefer the Scorps because I think they are much stronger than the drop kit, but I'm sure you have enough things to buy already. :-)

If you had both the drop kit and the Scorps, your rear shocks would be way too long, as your rear shock would effectively be longer by 4.5" or 5.0".

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. The combination of those two together would just bottom out on the bumps. I'll just stay with what I have now. Thanks!
