Hi guys,

This is my story. Yesterday when I drive my truck at one red light, I stop the car and turn off the A/C. At the the same time I use my left had to turn on my direction lights( not very sure, maybe done in 3 seconds). Then the engine died. I could start it again and the trailer light flash once each time I use the direction light after that.

I don't have any trailer. Any one know what happened to my truck? It's a 95 DI. What I did in this weekend were add some power steering, changed a clock bulb like post "http://www.discoweb.org/fag/clock.htm" and take one bad bulb off under my trans shift(I can't find one from local auto store, so I just left the holder empty). Is any thing I did hurt my car?

I searched the post before and can only find a post that "Turn on A/C and angine dies". So, I ask my question here. Thx for any help.

Ughhh.

Trailer light flashes once EVERY time you use the turn signal. If you have a trailer hooked up with the correct wiring harness, the trailer light would flash with every flash of the turn signal.

Absolutely normal. When in doubt, read your owner's manual.

Keep searching for the correct bulbs for the transmission indicator...they are a 5-watt with wire leads on the side. They burn hot as hell, so don't be surprised if you're replacing them every 3 or 4 months.

Has your check-engine light turned on? WRT the vehicle stalling, there is a signal sent to the engine's ECU when the A/C is turned on to inform the engine of "increased" load. Possibly if the intake air-control valve (or stepper motor) is worn, turning the A/C off may lead to the engine stalling. No big deal. Check the OBD1 display unit under the passenger seat and see if it is registering a code. Obviously if there is no code being displayed and you don't experience this again, don't worry.

It happened at a red-light and you were stopping anyway. At least your Disco didn't explode from using regular octane gasoline. Beware.

So Jason,

Could you explain why on my 94 Three door, without trailer wiring or even trailer hitch, that my trailer light illuminates almost every time my turn signals do.

Or just another gremlin for me to deal with...not a huge worry I guess.

Almost every time?

The trailer light is supposed to illuminate during the first flash of the turn signal, then it stays off during the rest of the time the turn signals are on. Again, if you don't like the answer, take a look at some LR authorized literature...like the owner's manual.

So, does your trailer light illuminate ONCE, every time you use the turn signals...or does your trailer light illuminate every time your turn signals flash?

If the latter, then the Elbonian factory workers who installed your wiring may have crossed a wire or two. Regardless, it is not a huge worry and if it annoys you so much as to seek out a fix for it, there are help-groups for people like you.

No trailer wiring? Maybe take a peek in the passenger side rear cover next to the rear pillar...I'd guess there is wiring for a trailer up to that point.

Jason,

Thank you for your help. I don't know why I didn't notice that the trailer light flash once each time I use turn signal before. Seems I am a bad driver.

I bought a buld for my transmission indicator and it's 5W. After I installed it I found it much more bright than another one. Then I was afraid the original one is 2.5W or something around it. I don't know what's the part number and I found one that very similar from internet is RTC3635, 2.5W.

Very sad thing is I checked my OBDI and nothing shows there. No LED, no code, only a black box with a label called "Range Rover On Board Dignoistic" and 4 or 5 cables connect with it. My truck is 95 Discovery I and I just know this equipment 3 days ago from this web site. Is it broken or something wrong with it?

Nope. No code means that all is kosher. If there is a number displayed, it corresponds to a "problem," such as O2 sensors, AFM, VSS, or in your case, what may have been the intake air control valve.

No code means no problem. If the stalling persists, then it may be time to have some components checked out...

Jason,

Mine is just a gremlin as occasionally the trailer signal goes out to leave the turn signal the only signal working.

Im gonna leave it be...not too worried as I said

Dean...I'm still not sure I understand you correctly...

...the trailer indicator should flash only ONCE with the turn signal indicator, then leaving the turn signal indicator the only light on your dash flashing. This is how these indicator lights should function from the factory every time you use your turn signals.

If your trailer indicator light flashes more than once with the turn indicator while the turn signals are on, then it's a gremlin.
