Whats up guys and gals,

Theres plenty of things that irritate me about my truck (that I love so much) wet carpets, hot AC, burnt plug wires etc, but one problem continues to annoy me. I can never pinpoint when it is going to happen.

When it does happen it does so in a big way, and I am going off to the to have it checked under warrenty. I'm just curious as to how bad you think it could be. I can make the obvious assumptions that something may be stripped but what? I can't seem to pinpoint it. Heres what I wrote on a piece of paper I am giving to the mechanic.

"Periodically, under medium to heavy acceleration, and usually from a dead stop, there is a drivetrain slip. It happens on all gear changes, but is most noticible on the first to second shift. There is a loss of momentum for the duration of the slip, and the feeling recieved is similar to driving over rumble strips punctuated by railroad ties at a high rate of speed. Cause unknown."

If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

BTW, I am now completely moved to NC.

Cheers,

Kennith

Ken: Auto transmsions like sticks have clutches...or rather clutch packs...a friend of mine with a hi mile d90 auto is experiencing the same symptoms, but only around max torque and were thinking that the truck far from needing the valve body pulled and cleaned is more likely to need a rebuild as the friction material has worn out. He did also switch to synthetic recently and my experience of that is mixed, as I tend to think its too slippery for these boxes.
I'm guessing you have a bunch of miles on your truck

Well,

I am comeing up on 37,000 miles. That's not too many, but the truck has been through all kinds of hell (and some high water). So, yeah, I guess she's been around a little.

So I suppose it's probably the clutch packs. Definately something I should look into. Gonna take forever to fix, etc...

How do you think the warrenty covers something like this, what would they do?

Cheers,

Kennith

37 k, and still within the warranty agewise? If so, let the dealer deal with it
