Hello, I am considering purchasing a Range Rover and am looking at a 1998 4.6 HSE with 62K miles still under factory warranty till 63k and a 1999 4.0 S 63K miles. The owner of the 1998 has all maintainance records and the engine was sealed at 60 K according to Landover dealership when the 60K service was done. Is the 1999 a better year in terms of reliability or it simply depends on the maintenance work performed. Anyone have any suggestions in terms of warranty providers on Range Rovers. Also are Range Rovers more of a headcahe in terms of gremlins as compared to Disco II

1999 had a mid year change to the Thor engine and Bosch electronics, rather than Lucas of the 1998. Have you read through http://www.rangerovers.net yet? |

I read through rangerovers.net. So the Rover with Bosch is more reliable is it. I am just confused as the 1998 Rover looks very well maintained.I don't know if 1998 Range Rover's had a lot of issues. Cheers Raj |

For me, the choice was clear: '99 (and 1/2) or newer. Don't understand where your confusion comes from, well maintained isn't everything as there are distinct differences. |
