Everybody i talk to gives me different answers on this one.Right now i'm running 34-44 PSI and the beast seems to run fine and Land Rover says 28-38 with stock tires i presume? And in the trail well everybody seems to have an opinion on that! How low can these tires go in the trail without being scared for sidewall damage and so forth?tks

patrick,

try this for on road pressure:

"you put a chalk line across the tread and drive straight for a few
revolutions of the tire. the chalk should wear evenly with the correct
pressure. more chalk worn in the center means too much air. chalk worn
near the shoulders mean too little air."

some folks have tires with a 3ply sidewall which will help against punctures when aired down.

most have 2ply and you need to be more careful.

for what its worth - I only air down when in mostly rocks such as Moab. for most of my off-highway driving, I keep the pressure the same as on the road using the method described above.
