My Disco will not disengage from park. Break lights are not coming on either. Fuse issue? Any help appreciated....somewhat hosed here in NH before the 4th.

Thanks,

Bud

Part number AMR 2011, new brake switch-Call Nathan, should cost about $25-$30. Jumper the two green wires to release the shifter.

Paul,

Well thanks. Could you point me to the location of the brake switch and the 2 green wires?

Thanks

Bud

On the Discoveries, there is a cardboard panel below the steering wheel held on by Christmas trees. Pull themout using a pair of pliers or similar. Grab ahold of the brake pedal, follow it up. The first switch you encounter has a coupla wires and a vacuum line, continue up to the next switch, this is the one you want. Carefully remove the wiring harness. On the front of the switch, there is a collar one pulls forward to release tension on the switch where it mates to the bracket. Pry the old switch out (it's faster, but usually destroys the old switch). Slide the new switch into position, push the collar back in to lock in the bracketry, grab the plunger and gently pull it until it contacts the brake pedal arm. Plug wires back in, confirm brake light operation and drive off into the sunset.

Peace,
Paul

Bud,
Just to let you know, I had the same problem a few months ago. Paul is awesome and I am greatful for his help. I would highly recommend that you contact Nathan just as Paul suggested. I followed Paul's advise and did so myself. I finally ordered my break light switch and an air filter from Nathan. He was on the ball. I came UPS and all in one piece. Nathan Crabtree at Discount Rovers 1-502-8rovers. He also has a website I think it is www.Discountrovers.com The brake light switch was $44.00 at the local dealership. I got it through Nathan for $21.00.
Good Luck,
Michelle
I also have a 97 Disco and love it. This website has been a blessing!
