Bob -

If you do a search with "windows stuck down" or "rear windows" you will find this question answered to the nth degree.

Also check the Tech section of this board "Rear Window Fix"

Try using the rear window switch and the one on the center console at the same time.

Bob,

Are both rear windows acting up or just one? If it is both, it could be the bad solder joint problem (see link in Brian's post). I just did this fix myself 3 or 4 weeks ago.

If it is just one window, you may have to do what I did for my Volvo... pull off the door panel and use a volt meter to see if you are getting power to the motor when the switch is held down. If so, bad motor, if not, go to the switch and see if you have power coming out of the switch when held down. If not, go to the other side of the switch and check. If you have power there, bad switch.... just work backwards until you find the problem.

Sorry, just saw that you said "windows".

That solder job did it for me. It was tough pulling the rear window ECU out so be careful and I suggest you wear some sort of glove. I ended up cutting my hand pretty badly on something sharp under the dash and bled all over the place.

Have had the Rear Window problem on a 1995 Discovery TDi. Found to be the solder problem on the Window ECU PCB. The same spot as in Brians fantastic post. Thanks Brian, it made fixing this really easy. Had already spent a couple of hours previously looking at the wrong wiring diagram in the Haynes manual!!!

Try this. Get someone to press the window switch while you pull the glass up
