1. reduce amount of dust drawn into air box on dusty trails 2. reduce risk of drawing water into airbox at water crossings 3. allow engine to draw in cooler, cleaner air 4. it looks Coooooooooooool |

1) Keep water out! Raises you air intake up high so you can go deeper in water. 2) Cleaner Air! The engine compartment can get very dusty and dirty. 3) Cooler Air! It gets real hot in the engine compartment. and of course #4 it looks cool... |

So every inbred redneck at the gas station will harass you with questions about it. |

1. Less dust. 2. Less water in engine after deep wading 3. Looks cool Chicks dig it, though they may have been redneck chicks.) 4. Cool place to mount your remote GPS antenna. (Safari snorkel) |

If you only wanted three reasons. Delete item #2 above. If you really get that deep, The electronics will probably go South. |

Got my Safari through British Pacific. That was a few years ago. It took me almost a year after I got it to get up the courage to cut that hole in the fender. ARB used to sell the Safari's too. I can't remember, but I may have gotten mine on sale. I know it wasn't as much as I saw it somewhere else. |
