I really don't want to buy new wheels...
Does anyone make an 18" offroad tire for
the 18" wheel on a Disco II?

Brian,
Nice job on the link. My buddy and I were having this same conversation recently after seeing a new Hummer H2 with "Chrome" wheels and 20 inch AT Tires (Go Figure?). Somebody has got to have some 18" AT Tires for LR.

Jaime-285/65/18. Is that for a D2 with a lift? or maybe some cutting of the fender liner?

The above posted link talks about 18in. Toyo tires. I have these on my D2 now. Factory size 255/55/18. While the tread pattern is aggressive, I wouldn't consider them off road A/T tires. They wear nicely though. For the occassional off-road romp, they are good. But I think if you want to do some real off-road driving, IMO-you're better off buying a set of 16's and putting real A/T tires on them. There are also other advantages to using a 16in. wheel off-road as opposed to 18.

you're right john there is a world of aggressive offroad tires out there for 16" wheels so if that was the main focus, offroading, then it would be bust to buy some 16" wheels

If you want off-road tires bad enough, you can find them. I've seen plenty of trucks with 18" rims and 35" tires, etc. It just depends on how extreme you want to go. I love my 16's and 33" BFG MT/KM's, but I imagine I would like them just as well if they were 18's.

Rover4us,

Not sure what mods would be necessary for that size to fit on a DII. However, the tire is available in a 18" size so it is at least an option.

Rich,

Nitto tires make some for 18 inch rims. They are called Nitto Terra Grappler. The web site is: www.nittotire.com 285/60R18's are little bit wider than 265/75R16's, but about the same height. Hope this helps.

Damien-
do you know how a 285/60/18 Terra Grapler would fit on stock D2 suspension? I know some brands differ in fitment when you start comparing.
