I need some help with my trailer wiring. My tail lights, left turn signal, and left brake light work fine. My right turn signal and right brake light are very dim, and often don't even turn on at all. Also, if I am braking, the turn signals on the trailer do not work, so I don't have brake lights and turn signals at the same time. I have replaced the uhaul converter box thinking it was the problem, but I had no luck, so I replaced the plug on the bumper and still had no luck. The wiring matches the descriptions in the tech section. Any Ideas?

I'm with Chris bad ground most likely. But I would recheck the ground wire to the U-haul converter itself. I had a simmilar problem with the same set-up. Thats what it was! |

yup same problem here, hauled different times long distance Uhaul trailers (6*12) and all of them have bad grounds due to a verry bad electrical setup (no solid ground from the lights to the front of the trailer i.e. connector) |

I did some searching tonight and found that the ground wire from the uhaul box was not connected, however, after connecting it I tested the trailer plug on the bumper with my multimeter and I was still getting a lower voltage coming out of the right side. The left turn signal connection was putting out about 9.5V but the right was only at about 6V. All of the voltages going into the box (turn signals, tail lights, brake lights) were fine. I didn't have time to try it out with the trailer but by those numbers I don't think it fixed it. I'm going to try it out with the trailer tomorrow, anybody know of anything else to check? |
