As we were there for only a Day and a half we only stayed in the area of the falls. Definiately do the Maid of the Mist, the journey behind the falls is pretty cool if you don't mind tight spaces.   William C. Only about 25 miles. The American falls are much smaller, but you can get right up next to them. The Canadian side is more crowded, but there's a great park that runs the length of the falls area.
