We just returned from another trip to Northern Manitoba. The gallery on our site is updated with some pictures if you are interested. http://www.teampb.com/gallery_grass_river_hudson_bay_expedition.shtml If you have any questions, just let me know. |

Awesome pictures! I like the flowers, butterfly, what appears to be dried up lava over the rocks(am I right?) and especially the bears! I am amazed at the trash around that bear in one of the pictures. He must have gotten into a trash can. How long are your trips? What type of duck is that? I looked in my Sibley's Guide to Birds and the only ducks it resembles are the Harlequin Duck and the Common Loon (black head and long bill). |

Robb, that bird is a loon. We see lots of them up here. Enough to name our $1 coin after it. |

Actually, the bear did not get into a trash can, just the trash left on a remote site used by some of the local lodges for shore lunches. I am glad you liked the pictures. The ones on the site were taken with a digital camera, makes it easy to post them. They are only a small subset of the photos taken, we burned a great deal of film too. I should scan some of them. There are some photos of a cinamon black bear, moose, and a bunch of different birds. Alan is right, the bird is a loon. Our trips can run from a few days to a few weeks. We spent nearly 2 weeks in the backcountry this time. John |
