I just traded in my 2000 RX300 with 45,000 miles for a fully loaded 1999 Disco with only 29,000 miles on it. It was an equal trade. Go to my website for more info:

Yeah, the lights are not hooked up yet. My friend whose job is to do car wiring for state vehicles, is doing them while I am away for 50 bucks for the parts and a case of beer, not bad.

The only complaint thus far are the stupid running boards that rip my leg hairs out when I get out of the truck and the 18" rims. I am soon going to replace them with Rovertym sliders. I like that design because I need something to step on when I put the bikes on the roof. And the Disco with the roof rack just fits in the parking garage I use in Boston. (I'll have to change garages if I want to do that OME lift I want.)

As you can tell, I am very excited about this new car. All those car reviews that say these things suck are wrong. It's my only car and I have already put 900 miles on it in 2 weeks and I couldn't be happier. Just thought I would share it with all you guys.

Congrats on your new disco! I have a low mileage 98, but i'm selling it. I would definitely say you got the better deal on that trade. Actually, I am amazed because LR's depreciate horribly, and Lexus holds value great.

Thanks for the comments!

You can get a terrorist hunter sticker for MA or the USA at any army navy surplus store. I picked up mine in downtown Northampton, MA.

Since I made the post, my friend has taken the truck from me to do the light wiring. I will be gone for 2 weeks, so I should come home to fully functional lights.

You can get one of those stickers for any state, at an army navy surplus store. The one I went to had stickers for all of the New England states.

Hey...I just got one too. I flooded my ZR2 Blazer about a month ago [www.zr2.com](Yeah, it was a $28K river crossing). The worst part about it is that it still looks factory new, but its totalled. But I finally just decided to replace it with a '99 Disco. Yeah, I read all the reviews, even handed salesmen at 2 Rover dealerships their a$$ when they tried to act like they knew what they were talking about. No pics yet..just the standard yuppy wagon for now.

I had a 2 door Freelander the summer before last when I was working in spain and I also rented a D110 I think it was for a few weeks when I was off work. So far so good, and as for the reviews, look who's writing them...a bunch of stay at home rich azz soccer moms who whine about not being able to get a child seat in the back or other stupid BS like that. Every complaint I read, I compared to my Blaze & Jeep Grand Cherokee.... and guess what the Disco smoked them all. Well except maybe the cherokee seats were marginally better. I'm happy with my purchase and glad to be part of the crew here now too.

Enjoy the truck!
Hope you use it for what it was intended! Living in Boston doesn't warrant itself to off-roading much I would think.
