Hopefully I can gather some direction here. Thanks in advance. 2002 Disco II with a factory installed trailer hitch and wiring (complete with external plug). My trailer lights function with the exception of the left turn signal (the DII left turn signal works). We checked and didn't seem to have a trailer left turn signal coming out of the DII. We stopped there, as we ran out of time. I'm looking for a few pointers before trouble shooting. Is the trailer turn signal fused seperately ? Any suggestions ? In summary - the left turn signal does not work on the trailer only (which is new and proved to be working properly), all other lights work.

The trailer most likely has no fuses. I would open the light and check the bulb first. I know that on boat trailers, many times water gets in and fouls things up a bit. If the bulb is good and the connections are good, I would check the ground next. You and can cheat and run a direct ground wire to your truck. I usually tap into the ground in the trucks trailer wiring. If the signal works then you know it's a ground problem. If this does not get you a signal, make sure you have a good ground and start to check for power. It's pretty straight forward. There are only a few wires. In my experience, it almost always seems to be the ground.

I would check the wire plug coming out of the disco like it seems you may have done. If you are not getting voltage for the left Turn signal, then it sounds like you may have a bad wiring box for the wiring harness. It is a small box that sits inside the back righ hand side of you disco behind the right turn signal... you may also want to just pull it out and check for voltage at the plug where it plugs into the small box that feeds you external plug. |

I doubt that this will help you, but I have trailer light troubles too. Since I had TJM 15 winch bumper installed, I have flashing trailer lights on my dash whenever I turn on the turn signals. The only problem is: I don't have a trailer. At least as far as I can determine. If there is a trailer there, it must be an invisible trailer??
