I just received today two rear axles for my Disco(FTC3720 and FTC3721)that I purchased from Paddockspares.com in the UK. They cost a total w/shipping of $189.00. That is dollars not pounds! They arrived in two days at half the cost of genuine replacement axles here in the states. Just thought I'd pass along the info.

Greg,

Are these basically an alternative to OEM or are they built a little beefier?

They are replacement of the OEM axles. They are the same size as OEM. But the main supply houses here in the US charge about $159/axle plus shipping.

If you look at their site and have trouble finding them, look under the Defender link, since D1 and Defender 90 have the same axles. PN's are in my original post.

Hi Greg
Do you want to check the part numbers?
FTC3720 is a drain plug for a disco gearbox, while FTC3721 is the part number for just the axle case.
Wouldn`t want anyone to get it wrong and be pi**ed off

Hi Greg
Maybe you should also point out that those parts are just the half shafts and not as your first post implies, two complete rear axles.

Hey Johnny Cochran:

Hmmm...I don't see the word complete in my original post at all, nor any implication of that word. Most people would understand that at $189.00 for two axles I would most likely be talking about the half shafts only and not the 'complete axle' which would include brakes parts also if it were 'complete'. Besides, had I gotten the part numbers right the first time it would be obvious the exact parts I was discussing. Anyway, thanks for your input and the stellar cross examination. Where should I send your fee to?

Greg

PS: I'm just kidding in case you couldn't figure that out either. ;-)

Hi Greg
Just wouldn`t want anyone to go through all the hassle of paying for a transatlantic call in a different time zone for a bargain that is not what they understood.
Thats all, no malice intended, but simple mistakes with a LR can cost a lot of money, I think we all know that.
Anyway best of luck sliding them in.
