man, having a 95 d1 was a big nightmare.

i think it drives good.. but it idles low. i could not clear the codes 44 45 48!! i put in all new parts and nothing changed.. and i am tired of it.

the monetro is a bit weaker, and smaller and bumpier, and not as smooth.. but HIGHLY DEPENDABLE! at least i wont have to work on it every week. right?????

Did you ever take it into the dealers to have them reset the codes??? Or for that matter have them look it over in case it isn't what you think is wrong?

Might question the statement that the Montero is "HIGHLY DEPENDABLE!" I recall hitting a bump on my old (no longer mine) 94 and killing the ABS computer. If you don't argue, I'll agree that the the Monty is slower, weaker, smaller and bumpier. I say stick with the Disco--course, I traded the Montero for one. Overall, the Monty is a good truck. What year are you getting?

Way to go. Montero is built by the Japenese company Mitsubishi. A few years back, a bunch of Mitsubushi Zero's bombed Pearl Harbor.

A lady at work has a new Mitsu, the thing has been through 2 engines and a transmission in less than 1/2 year, and she really is one of those "look both ways" kind of driver, not a lead-foot.

Paul, I agree about Zero's.... true, I bought a Roo, but Fuji Motors was created after WWII....

'Course, Seimens made the incinerators at the German camps....

Ya know, if I had the cash, I'd buy the fella's Disco, just to give it a Rover home.....

Ok, first. Thanks for telling us you are getting rid of your rover. Very interesting.

Every company is probably guilty of some injustice against someone.

Mitsubishi and many other "ex-evil" companys provide things for the U.S. government as well as private industry. I know that some very small fraction of parts off Rovers are made in
Japan. Just check out this deal with Boeing, a great american company.

TOKYO (AFP) - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan will provide Boeing with rear fuselage panels for its controversial plan to lease 100 KC-767 tanker aircraft to the US air force, a spokesman said.

The KC-767 is a modified Boeing 767, which is produced under international collaboration.

"The parts we produce are after-fuselage (rear fuselage) panels," the Mitsubishi Heavy spokesman said Tuesday.

He said it would be "a bit misleading to say that we won the contract" as reported by Japanese media because it was a matter of course that the company supplies the parts when Boeing gets a contract for 767s.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Tuesday Mitsubishi Heavy and four other Japanese companies had won large orders associated with Boeing's contract for the modified 767s.

Ouch Paul.... I hope you still don't have any hard feelings... The Mitsubishi that made the Zero's is *almost* completely different than the Mitsubishi Corportaion of today other than the emblem.

We should all sell our Rovers because Rover is owned by Ford and Ford made things for the Nazis.

BTW, have fun w/ that reliable MOntero! Ive posted it before, but ours was the biggest POS vehicle ever (even worse than my 82 2.8L V6 Camaro). Make sure you get the 3.5L V6 so you *have* to take it to a dealer to have anything done.

Hopefully your radio won't self-eject from the dash and hit anybody in the vehicle. Hopefully your will actually shift. And you might get lucky and get one w/ 5 doors that can be opened!

I have three friends with brand new Mitsu Suvs. Two have full-size Monteros and one has a Sport edition. One Montero wouldn't make it up a hill in 6" snow where my husband's Explorer did...another has already had numerous issues. The Sport owner sold his Nissan Pathfinder that had been a real solid car just b/c it was getting to the expensive side of age...he's the owner of an outdoor gear shop and goes everywhere in his 4x4...he bought the sport thinking it would be fun and reliable. WRONG...it's been in the shop every other month since new. He hates it and is trying to invoke the lemon law to get rid of it! I told him I'd pick him up at the dealership with the Rover! :-)

So LOVE, good luck. Go find a Mitsubishi board.

LOL. I knew that would start some fun.

Ian, I can't say anything about the French either because one of their companies manufactures a part for the V-22.

My neighbor has a big ass Mitsubishi Tv and I always give him shit during Footbal season:

Neighbor: "Paul, wanna come over and watch the game?"

Me: "No, I'm sorry; your Tv bombed Pearl Harbor.":-)

Paul
having fun....

I sorta figured you wanted to stir up some fun out of the guy's retarded post. So I took the bait. I wasn't sure if you were serious or not because I know so many freakin people that don't see the irony in the fact of saying that. My kudos to you though.

So what do you do when an airline sticks you on a 767? I'd like to see you say, "I'm sorry the company who built the rear fuselage of this plane bombed Pearl Harbor."

Actually, Mitsubishi does make a sweet airplane that likes to eat pilots. The MU-2, maybe one day I'll get my hands on the controls of one. Can't say the same for the car end of the business.

Cheers

I think I should be banned from this web site. If we are holding companies to blame for what dead board members did years ago then I should turn myself in.

My ancestors were guilty of two major injustices.

1. We were partners in ownership of the Mayflower. My family helped support invasion of the lands owned by Native Americans.

2. One of my ancestors was the chief architect of the King James version of the Bible. Many people have been persecuted and suffered because of religious beliefs.

Ironically, both issues are somewhat related. I'm guilty of the crimes of my forefathers. I don't deserve to live. LOL.

I apologize for this irrelevant post. I'm bored and don't have much work to do today.
