I need a backing plate for my dixon bate 3.5 thats going on my ARB. I have my old front bumper off my disco that is bent and I can't really even give it away. Can I cut a backing plate from this bumper and would it be good to use? |

Would it be good to cut 2 backing plates to make it thicker?

my thinking is that the factory bumper is 1/8 of an inch thick if I measured it right. So if I cut 2 plates of it then it would be 1/4" thick (same as EE backing plate for shackle bracket). If i cut a third then it would be 3/8. Would it be as good as a solid piece of 1/4 or 3/8? I'm having a conversation with myself . |

Blake, I think a solid 1/4" like the EE plate would be better. See, you're not talking to yourself. |

Thanks Steve. Yeah your right it would. I was just seeing if I could do it myself instead of going to the fab shop. |
